Question: Just started a vending business business but have no licenses. I am awaiting 3 new machines to be delivered but want to go ahead and obtain my BRM, DBA, Business/Vendor License, etc.

All required state, county, city or other licenses shall be obtained because they are absolutely necessary.  Beware for any penalties or necessary expenses due to  failure to obtain any of the required licenses. You must pay all sales tax incidental to the sales through the vending machines, and cooperate fully with the requirements of all local health departments.

Are there other necessary tax ids and license documents/requirements that I need in order to get started? Can I have a reference of others who have used your business license service to get started in their vending machine business? Your assistance and cooperation in getting my licenses to start my vending business  is greatly appreciated.

 

Answer:  Vending business licenses are not much different as for other businesses but surely there are some differences.  Although vending machines are legal in most cities, street vending is illegal in some cities, it's a booming industry in every corner of most cities. Officials estimate there are thousands of flower peddlers, fruit hawkers, i.e., persons going from place to place with goods and merchandise for sale. Street vendors are generally required to take out licenses, under regulations established by the local laws of the states. 
 

First, a vending machine operation needs a business license.  However, in addition, vending machine operators generally need seller’s permits in most states.
You generally need a seller’s permit if you make sales through a vending machine.  The good thing about it is that you need only one permit, regardless of how many machines you operate (the operator of the vending machine is the person who stocks the machine and collects money from it).  Since this is a business, most states require it to get a trade name registered if the operator uses a business name ot do business.

Some cold foods are partially taxable but hot food and cold drinks are fully taxable sales.


Vending machine sales of all carbonated beverages and hot food products (other than hot beverages) are fully taxable, just as they would be in a store or at a restaurant. Please note: Be sure to keep separate records of your partially taxable and fully taxable sales. If you sell prepared food, it is fully taxable.

The name of the business or individual 
The physical address/mailing address of the business
Residential and commercial rentals need to list the locations
Contact name and phone numbers
Description of the type of business
Tax identification number (Social Security or Federal ID number)
Type of business (sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation)
Partnerships -- at least two names with information and signatures of all parties
Corporations should list major officers
Contractors must list the state license number and class
